Did you wake up today eager to greet a new day, or grumpily pull the covers back over your head? Whether you realize it or not, happiness is often something we decide on ahead of time. This little story is a great example of how a positive attitude can change your outlook on life.
A legally blind 92-year-old man who was moving into a nursing home waited patiently in the lobby until a lady said his room was ready. As they walked down the hall, she gave him a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet curtains that covered his window. "I love it!" he declared. "But you haven't seen the room yet..." she started to say, when he said, "It doesn't matter. Happiness is something you decide ahead of time. For example, instead of waking up each day cursing the parts of my body that no longer work, I am thankful for the ones that do. Instead of focusing on all the potential negatives, I think about the blessings I have enjoyed through the years."
Here's the way I see it: Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. No matter your age, we'd be happy to help with your next printing project so you can spend more time depositing happiness in your bank account of memories.
